About Thomas Lavoie
My passion for photography began with capturing images on a Sony Mavica while on tour in Europe as a professional trumpet player in 2001 and 2002. Frustration with the limitations of this early digital camera in the dim light of cathedrals and opera houses motivated me to upgrade my equipment and begin a lifetime of learning and developing my skills as a photographer.
Soon after acquiring my first professional DSLR, I sold my first press image to The Valley News in White River Junction, VT. That image ran the next day full front page above the fold.Â
This initial taste of success encouraged me to study photography and Photoshop techniques with some of the worlds most noted photographers including Jay Maisel, George DeWolfe, Rick Sammon, Joe McNally, Scott Kelby, Tony Corbell, Vincent Versace, Robert Beck, as well as others. I have also studied composition with artist Marylin Tully Ward.
Together with my photo partner, Medora Hebert, I photograph weddings, advertising, portraits, and exhibit fine art photography. Our clientele has included Tom Rush, Dartmouth Mary Hitchcock Hospital,The Global Health Council in Washington, DC as well as others. I am currently the photography coordinator for The Great Waters Music Festival and am on the advisory board for The Creteau Technology Center.
My work has been featured by invitation in over 30 exhibits since 2011.
I am a member of The National Association of Photoshop Professionals and The International Trumpet Guild.
