Artist's Description

This dramatic image was was a result of steam hitting the extremely cold and dry air as the 7470 left the roundhouse in North Conway, NH. Sepiatone evokes a sentiment for a bygone era. It has won awards from The NH Art Association and The New England Camera Club Council.

About Thomas Lavoie

Thomas Lavoie

My passion for photography began with capturing images on a Sony Mavica while on tour in Europe as a professional trumpet player in 2001 and 2002. Frustration with the limitations of this early digital camera in the dim light of cathedrals and opera houses motivated me to upgrade my equipment and begin a lifetime of learning and developing my skills as a photographer. Soon after acquiring my first professional DSLR, I sold my first press image to The Valley News in White River Junction, VT. That image ran the next day "front page above the fold".  This initial taste of success encouraged me to study photography and Photoshop techniques with some of the worlds most noted photographers including Jay Maisel, George DeWolfe, Rick Sammon,...
